Duties/responsibilities

√ Drive long distances to deliver goods to customers.
√ Long-distance driving
√ Communicating and coordinating with dispatcher
√ Obeying and following applicable traffic laws
√ Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle
√ Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations
√ Ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving
√ Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules
√ Complying with truck driving rules and regulations

√ Performing daily maintenance of truck (refuelling, cleaning, etc.)
√ Loading and unloading box trucks with forklifts and pallet jacks
√ Interacting with customers in a professional manner
√ Performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports
√ Recording cargo deliveries
√ Verifying loads for accuracy

Requirements and skills
√ A high school diploma (certificate of NIT/VETA)
√ A original passport and valid driving license with class E
√ Fluently speaking in English and Swahili -Any foreign language is a plus
√ Must have a clean driving record with no recent moving violations
√ Proficient at driving, maneuvering, and parking large vehicles
√ Physically fit and able to sit for long time periods, perform truck maintenance, and lift 25 pounds comfortably
√Candidate should be dependable, hardworking and an effective communicator
√Able to work night, weekends, extended hours, and holidays as needed
